BURZA, TURKEY

The Bursagaz head office building is the headquarters of a local natural gas distributor. The client requested the integration of a number of renewable energy sources within the building.
The design concept is a composition of different prisms with voids and transparent surfaces coming together, creating the impression of one big exploded cube.
In addition to a sophisticated, semi-open, roof top garden, each prismatic volume ends with an open roof that serves the occupants.
In this project, it was very important to create a high quality work environment. So we challenged the traditional double-skin facade section of the building, in order to also offer shaded balconies that surround the office space.
The one outer skin is arranged using modular BIPV panels, whilst the other uses painted glass shadings. When these two come together, they create an irregular rhythm of shadows on the interior of the building.
This building is truly unique in Turkey, it not only combines BIPV panels and a solar-paneled roof but it also reuses rain and drain water.
